The Annual Honoring of Martyrs and Heroes 2018

The Bantayog ng mga Bayani Foundation, Inc. holds its Annual Honoring of Heroes and Martyrs under the Marcos dictatorship on Friday, November 30, 2018, 3:30pm to 6:30pm at the Bantayog Center, Quezon Ave. near cor. EDSA, Diliman, Quezon City.



To be honored this year are

3) DUEŇAS, Ruth E.
4) LIBRADO, Erasto L.
5) ORBE, James M.
6) PINGUEL, Baltazar A.,
7) PRINCIPE, Nestor L.

Every year we recall again each individual we have honored in the past. But starting this year we have added a special part of the program that re-honors our martyrs for democracy. Three have been selected, namely Cristina Catalla, Alexander Orcullo and Cesar Climaco.

The Bantayog ng mga Bayani Foundation, Inc. holds its Annual Honoring of Heroes and Martyrs under the Marcos dictatorship on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 4:00-7:00 pm  at the Bantayog Center, Quezon Ave. near cor. EDSA, Diliman, Quezon City.

Guest speaker is Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea, president of Mapua University.

Bantayog undertakes its honoring ceremonies every year, usually on this important date, Bonifacio Day. It has so far honored 287 individuals, and will add 11 more this year, for a total of 298 individuals.

This year’s honorees are Tayab (Arthur) Aboli, Cesar T. Cayon, Coronacion Chiva, Dalama (Elma V. Tangente), Fr. Jose P. Dizon, Pablo G. Fernandez, Lumbaya Gayudan, Antonio Maria O. Nieva, Sabino G. Padilla Jr., Francis S. Sontillano, and Amb. Alfonso T. Yuchengco.

The Annual Honoring of Martyrs and Heroes 2016

Bantayog ng mga Bayani announces the addition of nineteen names to its roster of martyrs and heroes this year. They are Marciano P. Anastacio Jr., Eduardo Q. Aquino, Fortunato Camus, Benjamin H. Cervantes, Hernando M. Cortez, Edgardo G. Dojillo, Manuel G. Dorotan, Lourdes P. Estella-Simbulan, Ricardo P. Filio, Margarita F. Gomez, Leticia Jimenez-Magsanoc, Joel Cecilio O. Jose, Julio Xavier Labayen, OCD, Romulo Peralta, Jovito R. Salonga, Jose T. Tangente, Simplicio D. Villados, Danilo P. Vizmanos and Antonio L. Zumel.

Their names, etched on the Wall of Remembrance, will be unveiled during the Annual Honoring of Martyrs and Heroes on November 30, 2016, 4pm, at the Bantayog Center grounds. Guest of Honor and Speaker will be the Hon. Leonor M. Briones, Secretary of the Department of Education. A concert, Musical Journey with Heroes featuring Paul Galang, follows the program.

The Annual Honoring of Martyrs and Heroes 2015

The following are this year's honorees. From Luzon: Edgardo Cupino, Ernesto Lacabao, Horacio Morales Jr., Antero and Santos. From the Visayas: Vicente Beloria, Alberto Espinas, Napoleon Lorca, and Rolando Lorca. And from Mindanao: Evella Bontia, Fernando Esperon, Nicanor Gonzales Jr., Ma. Socorro Par, Ester Resabal-Kintanar, Cecilio Reyes, and Roberto Salac.

This year's guest of honor will be Hon. Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, Associate Justice, Supreme Court of the Philippines. The 2015 Annual Honoring of Martyrs and Heroes will happen on November 30, 2015 4PM at the Bantayog Center.

The Annual Honoring of Martyrs and Heroes 2014

This year’s honorees were labor leaders Felixberto Olalia Sr., Rolando Olalia and Crispin Beltran; human rights worker Sr. Violeta Marcos; “Daet martyrs” Elmer Lagarteja, Jose E. Alcantara (killed at 40), Benjamen Suyat (killed at 47) and Rogelio Guevarra (killed at 45); Jorge Checa, Ceasar Gavanzo Jr., Venerando Villacillo and Julieto Mahinay.

They were all “freedom advocates” who opposed the dictatorship. They lived and died in different ways but had in common a heroic streak that made them worthy to be included in the list of martyrs and heroes etched on the Wall of Remembrance.
